The Twelve Apostles

Today we left peaceful Kennett River, with all its koalas and birds and headed for Port Campbell.

We stopped at Apollo Bay and had yummy stuff with coffee from the local bakery.

Further on we turned off to Cape Otway Lighthouse. It was blowing a gale. We climbed up to the top, but it was too windy for me to go outside. Dave went out and his glasses blew off, the string went over his head and the glasses ended up caught on the bottom of the railing on the edge. There was also an interesting telegraph station that had been restored.

We continued on until we came to the turnoff for the 12 Apostles. We were amazed by the whole setup. You turned off the road into a big new carpark, than a walkway has been built under the highway and out to the edge of the cliffs, with a walkway right around the top. The views are spectacular in all directions. It was about 4pm by the time we arrived, and the sun was poking through the big grey rain clouds, putting a glow onto the white water along the shore.

A bit further up the road we came to Port Campbell where we booked into the caravan park for a couple of nights. We went up the street and found a pizzza shop where we had a truly delicious pizza...half Persian and half Chicani. The Persian had pear, walnuts, fetta, coriander, etc...delicious!
