After brecky and a bit of shopping, we left Wangaratta for Castlemaine.
Near Shepparton we came across asign to The Chocolate Apple Factory, so we turned off and went for a look. The apples, dipped in caramel then chocolate were rather yummy. There was also local produce...jams, sauces, juices.
It is a beautiful old gold mining town with lots of really old, well looked after houses.....and we didn't see any colourbond!!!
At Castlemaine we stayed at the Botanic Gardens Caravan Park, which, you guessed it, is right alongside the Botanic Gardens. We went for a walk in the gardens and Dave collected mushrooms which we had for tea for about 3 days.
There are quite a few antique shops in the area, the biggest and best being the XXXX Antique Complex. It is full of really expensive stuff from Europe. The owner gets in 3 containers of stuff from France and England every year, so he must be selling a fair bit. We didn't buy anything there!!!
However, Dave did buy an old cupboard at The Restorers Barn. It is now occupying most of the boot! That night we went to the movies and saw Micmacs. We had no idea what it was going to be about. It turned out to be a French film and pretty quirky.
